My Origin Story
Updated: Apr 6, 2020
Hello and welcome to my blog!
I definitely don't know what I'm doing but I think that's what makes it fun, so I'll just start by introducing myself...
Hi (again), my name is Alyssa and I am a pastry chef.
My entire life revolves around dessert and I wouldn't want it any other way. Most people my age still don't even know what they want to do with their life, but I am lucky enough to have had my career plan set since I was 12 years old.
It all started in March of 2012...
My Great Aunt is the OG baker of the family, and I owe everything I learned in the beginning stages of my career to her. My sister was having a sweet 16, and my Aunt was in charge of the cake for the party. She asked me if I was interested in helping- and of course, I said yes.
We decided to make a cupcake tower with a small cake on top. I didn't realize what I had gotten myself into, and I definitely didn't know that this would be the start of my career. I don't remember much about that day, but I do know that we made a lot of cupcakes.
So there we were in her cute little kitchen, with icing in our hair and our hands permanently stained bright pink with food coloring. I watched her frost and decorate the cake with intricate garland piping, and I was mesmerized by her patience and attention to detail. That was when I knew I wanted to do this forever.
A lot has happened since then...
I got my first job at Nettie's Country Bakery in 2014 and I have been with them ever since! I am now the brownie baker for their newest product line: Nettie's Craft Brownies. Check them out here!
Then, I graduated from Johnson and Wales University with a Baking and Pastry Arts Degree. I even did my internship at Walt Disney World for three amazing months!
Now that I'm home, I get to focus more on other things I love to do, like blogging! I love sharing techniques, tips, and new recipes I stumble upon. So, thanks for stopping by! I hope to see you here again soon!
