Killer Bread Pudding Recipe

Hello bakers! I am so excited to share one of my favorite recipes with you today. This week, we are making bread pudding!

This bread pudding is a classic: using fresh baked bread, rich and creamy custard, and a sweet vanilla sauce.

I am using Nettie's Country Bakery white bread for this recipe. Trying to make this out during a pandemic? No problem! Nettie's is offering delivery or pick-up on Sundays for online orders! Any of their loaves work (I am using their white bread in this recipe) but I plan to try this again with their cinnamon raisin bread... Stay tuned for an update!

First, cut the bread into 1-2 inch squares and add them to a large bowl. (It is best if the bread is a bit stale)

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg until combined.

Pour the mixture over the bread and stir it gently to coat. Let it sit for about 20 mins

During this time, you can preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

Transfer the bread mixture to a baking dish and bake for 50-60 minutes until the center is set. While this is in the oven, we can work on the vanilla sauce!

For the sauce, you only need 5 simple ingredients: Heavy cream, sugar, butter, flour and vanilla!

In a saucepan, whisk together the sugar, heavy cream, and flour until combined.

Add in the butter and heat on medium until the butter melts and the liquid starts to boil

Whisk until thickened slightly, remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Once the bread pudding comes out of the oven you can pour the sauce right on top or you set it aside and use it right before serving (This could help to keep it from getting soggy).

I LOVE this recipe! it's the perfect Sunday morning treat that goes great with a fresh cup of coffee or tea. this batch makes quite a bit so you could cut the recipe in half and bake in an 8x8 pan instead. (But I promise it won't last very long, its addicting!!)

If you are interested in using Nettie's Bakery bread or other products they have available and live in the Center Moriches/ Manorville/ Shirley area, you can place an order for delivery through their website: Nettiesbakery.com.

Don't live in the area? No problem! you can place an order for pickup as well!

I hope you try this recipe, you won't be disappointed! If you happen to try it, tag me on Facebook or Instagram!

Thanks for stopping by, I'll see you next time!
